There are several opportunities for music education available at St. Michael's Academy through a partnership with the Community Music School, in addition to the traditional music curriculum offered at St. Michael’s Academy.

Violin Program (Grade 2)

Second graders may opt into a violin program. Instructors from the Community Music School will visit St. Michael’s Academy once a week throughout the school year to teach students how to play the violin. The year’s instruction culminates in a performance where students may demonstrate what they have learned. This program is made possible by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Drumming Program (Grade 3)

All third graders participate in a half-year drumming program, led by instructors from the Community Music School. At the end of the program, the third grade treats their family and friends to a drumming performance.

Choral Program (Grade 4)

All fourth graders participate in a half-year choral program, led by an instructor from the Community Music School. Throughout the program, the fourth graders often sing at local events, such as the Springfield Police Department’s ceremony to honor fallen officers. At the end of the program, the students delight friends and family with a final performance.
