Transportation To and From St. Michael’s Academy

Students may arrive to school in the following ways:

    1. Car – all students may arrive/depart via carlines, adhering to carline rules. Families are asked NOT to pull through the parking lot to drop-off or pick-up.
    2. Bus – bus transportation is provided for students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 8 who live in the city of Springfield and live within the qualifying distances.
    3. Walkers – students who live in close proximity of the school may choose to walk with parent permission. Crossing guards are available.
    4. Bicycle – students who wish to ride a bicycle to school may park and lock them in the designated area. Helmets are MANDATORY. The school is unable to assume any responsibility for bicycles.

Students may arrive to school between 8 – 8:30 a.m. in the morning. Breakfast is served in the classroom during this time period. School officially begins at  8:30 a.m. All arrivals after 8:30 a.m. will be considered tardy. Dismissal begins at 3:10 p.m. with the carlines being dismissed first. The buses will then depart after the carlines are finished at approximately 3:20 p.m. and, for safety reasons, the walkers are the last to leave. A staff member will escort all walkers to each of the four corners of the school.

If your child will be dismissed in another way other than their normal routine, a note should be brought from home and given to the teacher in the morning. This also applies to early dismissals for appointments, etc. We do ask that no student be dismissed between 2:30 and 3:10 p.m. This greatly interferes with dismissal protocols. If your child is absent, we ask that you call the main office in the morning so the classroom teacher may be alerted. After more than three consecutive absences, a doctor’s note must accompany the student before they will be allowed to return to school.
