Preschool to Grade 8
Art Class Information for the Month of April
Pre-K- The students are working in decorating their tubes with construction paper cut in the style of Matisse. Did I mention they'll be kazoos? Sorry, PreK parents:)
Kindergarten- The students are beginning to learn about color and Roy G. Biv
1st Grade- The students are creating a van gogh inspired vase still life using mix media for tools.
2nd Grade- The students will illustrate a story about the last time they used a flashlight while learning about warm and cool colors.
3rd Grade- The students are drawing three different size hot air ballons and coloring them in with warm/cool and complementary colors
4th Grade- The students are painting a monochromatic landscape while learning about different shades, tones and tints of a color.
5th Grade- The students are FINALLY adding felt teeth to their vejigante mask in addition to applying modge podge to give it a luminious gloss.
6th Grade- The students are working on rotational symmetry name design.
7th Grade- Wire sculptures are here! The students began to build their Abstract wire sculpture using wire hangers, nylon stokings and a wooden block!
8th Grade- The students are creating a paper mache bowl. Using a plastic bowl as a mold, the students are creating a functional art piece. They look awesome so far!
I am a first year teacher at SMA. I've taught in Holyoke Public Schools on a cart for seven years. I'm very excited to teach art in a classroom, which would allow me to teach my students all the fundamentals in art. On my free time I draw portraits, paint landscapes and still life.
